On the season 3 premiere of the Shoot To Grill Podcast we have our very special guest, guitarist and vocalist from the Zac Brown Band, John Driskell Hopkins! Our host Jason Bailey talks to John about playing in bands in college, how he met Zac Brown, recording with Chris Cornell, and some really cool Dave Grohl stories! Today our grill master Sheed of Philips Barbeque Company demonstrates how to cook bacon mac-n-cheese burgers on the Kamado Joe.
Meat provided by: Atlanta Steaks & Seafood
Bacon Mac-n-Cheese Burgers
- thick cut bacon
- Optional: Atlanta Grill Company’s Argentina Steak Rub
Get your cook zones set up, looking for about 300/325
Beef Patty [or preferred patty]
Season with salt and pepper, here we used the Atlanta Grill Company : Argentina Steak Rub. Make sure to cover the patty evenly.
Place patties on our high cook zone
Get a nice sear on both sides, really lock in the flavor, be careful of flare ups and move to the cooler cook zone to allow patty to finish cooking
Grill bacon strips to preferred doneness [I like mine a bit crispy, a nice snap when you bite]
Time to plate up. Butter and toast buns slightly
Use the patty as a great base, load it up with your favorite mac and cheese, top with crispy bacon, serve and enjoy
